Privacy

The short version: SpaceCoach never sends your files, file names, folder sizes or scan results anywhere. It has no analytics and no account. The app goes online only to check for updates: automatically only if you turn that on, or when you choose Check for Updates yourself.

The app

SpaceCoach scans your disk on your Mac. Everything it measures stays on your Mac. It keeps two things there:

• Your settings, in the app's preferences, including your Pro license key if you bought one.
• Scan history: a summary of each scan, kept in~/Library/Application Support/SpaceCoach so you can see what changed. It holds the totals for each category and the locations and sizes of big files and folders (100 MB or more), not their contents. It never leaves your Mac, and you can delete it at any time with Forget History in the app.

Your license key is checked on your Mac, without going online. It contains your order number, the name you bought it under and the date it was issued.

Update checks

Automatic update checks are off until you turn them on in Settings. You can also check once by choosing Check for Updates from the app menu. When SpaceCoach checks, it downloads a small list of versions from spacecoach.app. Like any web request, that tells our web host your IP address and the app's version. It doesn't send anything about your disk or your files.

The website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Its fonts are served from this site, not from a third party. Our host, Cloudflare, sees the usual details of each visit, like your IP address and browser, in order to deliver the page and protect the site.

Buying Pro

Purchases are handled by Paddle, which acts as the seller of record and processes your payment. Paddle shares your name, email address, country and order details with us so we can send your license key and help if something goes wrong. We never see your card details. Paddle's handling of your data is covered by Paddle's privacy policy.

Feedback and support

SpaceCoach's Help menu can start an email to us for feedback or a feature request. It opens a draft in your own email app with SpaceCoach's version, your macOS version and your Mac's model filled in, never your files, file names or scan results. You see everything before you send it, and nothing is sent unless you send it. We use what you write, and your email address, only to reply and to improve SpaceCoach, and we don't share it.
